Edel Ramberg is a well-known Irish Milliner based in Galway creating hats, headpieces, bridal veils
and combs, masks and casual hats for ladies. All her pieces are handmade in her atelier where she
works on seasonal ready to wear collections as well as bespoke orders.
Edel studied for her degree in Fashion Design at the Limerick School of Art and Design, where in her
degree collection she specialised in Knitwear and Leather, which was the start of her love and
interest in embellishments and textures. After college Edel went on to work in Manhattan as an
assistant designer gaining a range of knowledge in the mass market design sector. Following her
time in New York, Edel went on to work for 4 years with property agency Savills basing her role of
Retail Fashion Consultant between the Dublin and London offices. It was with Savills Edel worked on
some of the biggest retail schemes in the UK and Ireland liasing with new brands and retailers to
introduce to the Irish market.
Following on from her time with Savills Edel quickly realised her dream was to be in fashion herself
and set upon a journey to start her own business in design. Edel went to work with world famous
milliner Philip Treacy in 2009 where she had the opportunity to work on collaborations with
Valentino and assist on creations for the Royal Family. It was the start of the journey of hats which,
9 years later, has seen Edel’s creations at Royal weddings, on the heads of ladies from Ireland to
America, graced many magazines and newspapers and have even won a few of her clients the title of
best dressed lady at race meetings all over Ireland.
Edel’s hats are little pieces of wearable sculpture that are all handmade by her.
