Ascot Throwback!

Well it’s nearly that time of year again when the amazing Royal Ascot begins across the pond and I have to admit it is the one I look forward too the most as my clients pull out all the stops for the week of racing.

When my husband and I went over as guests of one of my clients we enjoyed every second of the style, atmosphere and of course horse racing. Ascot is another level. The racecourse is world class as are the women and men dressed up for the occasion.

This is an old picture of me in the Royal Enclosure 2013 enjoying a race in the sunshine. I wore a Paper London yellow skirt with black Miss Selfridge Peplum jacket, black Louboutin heels (which killed my feet after 16 hours in them), an Alexis Bittar Lucite necklace and a large black disc hat with yellow roses and swirls. I know my colours were a bit bumble bee but I felt great in the outfit, the skirt was so comfortable and the length was appropriate for the enclosure and owners/trainers area so I was glad I chose it in the end. We were photographed lots and took plenty of photos from the second we arrived. It was our first visit to Ascot and certainly won’t be our last. We won’t make it this year but fingers crossed it is on the to do list again for next year, it really is a must! Looking forward to seeing the style again this year and popping some images up on my instagram and twitter during the event. Roll on June!!IMG_9443

Wedding hats

At the recent wedding of my friends Luke and Christina i decided to wear a magenta Niamh O’Neill wool skirt as the weather in Ireland was still a little blustery. I teamed the skirt with an ivory flower applique Coast top, ivory blazer, nude shoes and a pale gold YSL clutch.

For my hat i decided to make the base in an ivory weave mix with cream sinamay, i mixed ivory small roses with deep pink roses and magenta swirls.

The disc hat was dramatic and the two tones of pink and ivory brought the colours of my outfit all together. I loved wearing a big hat at a wedding for a change as i tend to usually wear smaller pieces and i think the drama of the piece made the right statement at such a stylish wedding.

Congratulations Luke and Christina!

Wedding Hats

Last weekend I went to my best friend Anna’s wedding at The G Hotel in Galway. The bride was breath taking in her floor length Italian silk ivory dress with simple cathedral length veil and striking Alexis Bittar earrings. She was surrounded by a sea of stylish men, including her bow tie clad husband David and of course plenty of beautiful ladies, some of whom adorned their heads in Edel Ramberg designs hats.

I wore a Self Portrait dress which had a triangle detail trim so I embellished my large black parisisal hat with a ribbon trimmed in petersham triangles, I decided on a big hat to balance the skirt part of the dress which was really full and fun to wear. I wasn’t the only one in a large hat, Lisa, wore a striking fitted royal blue dress which I made an extra large royal blue disc to match. I added a navy trim and a mixture of navy and blue feathers in the middle of some soft ivory flowers to give her a more springtime look, the colour made her eyes pop and really stood out in the quirky surrounds of the G Hotel.

Our friend Sinead wore a vibrant dress in bright yellow with a navy box jacket and metallic silk lycra mini beret with a floating silver feather. The single feather was a great way to spot her in the church!

My gorgeous mum wore an elegant teal dress with a scooped collar jacket. She accessorised it with an Edel Ramberg Designs teal pillbox with wool applique and a mixture of teal and blue feathers while my friend Nicola wore a mini black velour wool smartie headpiece with a single curled quill which made a statement with her floor length orange, black and ivory dress.

The wedding was absolutely fantastic and I was thrilled to have so many hats at it, I will have more pictures next week including some of the stunning mother of the bride and beautiful little flower girls who all wore Edel Ramberg Designs on the day.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Hosty, thank you both for such a memorable day!

Colour pops at Cheltenham 2015

The sun came out today at Cheltenham for Ladies day and the yellow in the sky wasn’t the only colour on show.

The requirement of the day was  to tweet #colourmemarch, in a nod to the colours of Spring, and ladies were asked to post pictures of themselves in colourful outfits to social networking site twitter in order to garner up plenty of attention for the ladies day style.

A lady in one of my hats who got plenty of notice on twitter, instagram and facebook was Camilla Henderson, daughter of well known horse trainer Nicky Henderson. Camilla wore a magenta pink velvet deep beret with spiked mowhawk of orange red feathers with a beautiful pink coat, YSL handbag and orange Mulberry dress.

Camillas Edel Ramberg hat was a ideal piece to wear for springs unpredictable elements as the curved shape of the beret sat easily against the head and the sharp arrow feathers created an element of drama while the colours kept it young and fun! Camilla definitely stood out from the crowd with her strong colours and looked absolutely stunning at the race meeting.

Style me Curvy shout out!

Last weekend I read a beautifully honest interview, in The Sunday Independent, about my friend Louise O’Reilly who I first met over 4 years ago when we worked together on one of my hat shoots.

Louise is one of the kindest most down to earth people I have ever met, she has pushed the boundaries of modelling and peoples perceptions of what a typical model should look like and instead educated her followers on being a healthy curvy young lady. Her attitude and beautiful spirit are evident in her blog http://www.stylemecurvy.blogspot.ie/ and I am so happy for her success which, having worked with her, is down to extreme hard work and discipline.

Louise is an inspiration to all women be they curvy or other as she preaches honest advice, style solutions, healthy lifestyle choices and body confidence.

I love reading about Louise’s latest work and follow her religiously on instagram.

Well done lovely Lou, continued health and success to you. Xx

Louise and I on our second shoot together, it was such a cold day and she still managed to smile and troop on like the total professional that she is. I did enough complaining for the two of us! ;-)

Tickled Pink

Recently at the wedding of my good friend Emma i decided to go for some pink! I adore the colour so had a wool peplum top made to go with my magenta wool Edel Ramberg Designs hat.

To top off the wool smartie hat i wanted something statement so used an extra long magenta quill feather which curved into a stunning point on my head. The hat was so comfortable to wear and brought the outfit together nicely for a winter wedding.

I wore my magenta hat with a magenta wool peplum top by Tina Griffin, black mesh tutu from Asos, Jimmy Choo shoes and a velvet Mulberry postman bag.

No chance of blending in with a feather that big on your head!

The Hennessy Gold Cup 2015

Edel-Ramberg-Blog2

Last weekends racing style at The Hennessy Gold Cup in association with The Design Centre was just delicious!

I went along with my friend Paula to meet up with a few others and take in the sunshine, horse racing and fashion. It was one of the best meetings I had been too in Leopardstown in the style stakes. Furs, wools and beautiful hats adorned many a lady at the event.

I wore a black straw weave mini pillbox hat with silk spotted veiling which was so light and delicate, accessorised with my new favourite Tina Griffin tulle skirt, Miss Selfridge peplum jacket, Paula Rowan gloves, Mulberry Bag and Jimmy Choos while Paula’s hat was a mowhawk of dyed green duck quills and pheasant feathers which she complemented with a fitted forest green dress, Tina Griffin cape, Mulberry Bag and stunning tonal green fur.

The Hennessy Gold Cup is the kick start to the best dressed lady competitions each year and I was delighted to see lots of ladys in their Edel Ramberg Design hats on the day.

Here is a picture of Paula and I in our ERD hats at The Hennessy Gold Cup, squinting in the sunshine, not a bad complaint!

Mother of the Bride Hat

My beautiful cousin Ailbhe got married in December and I had the honour of making her mum, Marians, hat for the wedding. Marian had an amazing pink wool dress made and a little cape style detachable collar, her gloves and bag, from my favourite designer Paula Rowan, allowed us to introduce some nice autumnal tones with feather detail.

The hat was an elegant side sitting disc with the same pink wool underlay as dress and a rich velvet mix outer layer. The feathers were a stunning collection of Argus Pheasant along with others mixed in for depth.

We were both really happy with the finished headpiece and  I thought she looked absolutely stunning on their special day.
